WoWPlotter Help
Getting Around
WoWPlotter was designed to be an easy and intuitive interface to view quest coordinates and objectives on a Warcraft Zone map. The simplest way to get around is to type your quest name in the field on the upper left under 'Search Quests' and click the button or hit enter. A list of all quests matching your search is displayed in a scrollable area beneath the search field. Just click the quest title, and your info is displayed. If the quests or Zone are not displaying correctly, please ensure that you have a JavaScript capable browser that is relatively up to date. This site looks best in Firefox, click the image link below to download it!
The Results Box
Quest titles are displayed as links on the top-left corner of the page. You click on the quest name to display the map and coordinate data. You will also notice some other icons. The small blue square [] means that the quest is meant for the Alliance. Similarly, the red square [] indicates that this is a Horde quest. It follows then that if you see both squares, the quest is for either faction. You will also notice a number to the left of the quest title, and a 'W T' to the right. The 'W' icon will bring you to that quest on WoWHead. Likewise, the 'T' icon will link to this particular quest in Thottbot. This is ideal for those times when you need a little more information than just the location. The link will open in a new window, so you don't have to worry about losing your place. The number indicates the suggested player level for the quest. If this number is higher than your level, you can expect to gain more XP from it, but it will be harder. The reverse is true for numbers lower. The quest will be easier, but the rewards will not be as good.
The Map Area
Once you've entered your search data and clicked on a quest, the coordinates and map for the zone will be brought up to the right of the quest list. Quest objectives will appear as one of two icons, based on their popularity. Coordinates only reported once will show up as a red X []. Popular coordinates will glow, like this: . Glowing coordinates have been confirmed by several users, so you know what you're looking for will be there. If you hover your mouse over the X, the actual coordinate will be displayed underneath the map.
Show Nearby Quests
To find quests whose objectives are close to eachother, perform a search as normal. When the Zone map comes up, enter a distance in the new 'Show Quests Within [ ] Coordinates' line, or go with the default of '5'. Click the magnifying glass icon, , to perform your search. When the new box appears to the left, click a quest in it, and its coordinates will be shown with grey X's along side the existing red ones. Click the 'Select Quest' button to bring the nearby quest into the main focus, and repeat these steps if you want to find quests close to the newly selected one.
Bugs
We do our best to make sure the data in here is accurate and appropriate to the quest you're looking for. However, as ninjamatic as we may be, we're bound to get a few things wrong. If you see 'No Zone Data' instead of the Zone image you were expecting, the likely reason is that we haven't properly collected this quest's particular data. These will likely fix themselves, but they will get fixed a lot faster if you report them to us at admin@wowplotter.com. We are usually able to fix these within a couple hours, and we really appreciate your feedback! In the mean time, you do have a workaround. The No Zone Data screen will also have a drop down with every Zone in the game listed. Select the correct one, and it will display with the coordinates. A cookie will also be set which will remember your selection, so the next time you select that quest, the proper Zone will come up. It will also send your selection to the site administrators, so that we can correct the Zone in our database.
